The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Mechanica Association, organized an Expert Talk on “Role of Digital Manufacturing & Industry 4.0” on 13th March 2026.The session was delivered by Mr. S. Venkat Prasad, Senior Customer Support Engineer, JANATICS Global Solutions Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable insights on modern manufacturing technologies and Industry 4.0.The event provided students with practical exposure to current industrial trends and was well received by participants.

On 21 February 2026, the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Parents Meeting for II, III and IV Year students. The meeting focused on semester results, placement training programmes and the Department’s vision and mission aimed at holistic career development.

One-Day Bootcamp on Design Thinking
The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Mechanica Association of Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, successfully conducted a One-Day Bootcamp on Design Thinking on 06 February 2026. The session was led by Dr. K. Hariharan, Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering and engaged 55 Second Year Mechanical Engineering students in interactive learning on innovation, user-centric problem solving and creative design methodologies.
The Drawing Board Competition
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the ISTE Student Chapter TN-87 and Mechanica Association of Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, successfully conducted “The Drawing Board Competition” on 04 February 2026 under the theme Think Ahead with AI.A total of 55 II Year Mechanical Engineering students participated enthusiastically, and the event was evaluated by Bargavi Padmanaban, GlobalArt, Pollachi.

The Department of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering of Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, organized a Technical Talk on “Buckling and Vibration” on 24.01.2026. The session was delivered by Dr. P. Jeyaraj, Professor, National Institute of Technology Karnataka. The talk offered valuable academic insights and practical perspectives on structural stability and vibration analysis, significantly benefiting both students and faculty members by enhancing their understanding of critical mechanical engineering concepts.
Industrial Visit – BULL Machines Pvt. Ltd.
II Year Mechanical Engineering students visited BULL Machines Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore on 04.11.2025, accompanied by Mr. Sreejith S. Nair, Assistant Professor (SS), Department of Mechanical Engineering, as part of the One Credit Course titled “Welding Techniques.” The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to modern welding processes and industrial applications, bridging classroom learning with real-world practices.
Industrial Visit to G.K. Industries, Coimbatore
II Year Mechanical Engineering students visited G.K. Industries, Coimbatore, on 01.11.2025, accompanied by Dr. N. Bala Murali, Assistant Professor (SS), Department of Mechanical Engineering, as part of the One Credit Course on “Sheet Metal and Surface Modelling.” The visit provided valuable industrial exposure and practical insights into modern sheet metal processes and surface modelling applications.

The Mechanical Department proudly inaugurated GEAR UP ‘25 with Mechanica on 23 July 2025, featuring an inspiring talk by Dr. Giribaskar Sivaswamy, Ph.D. (IIT Kanpur) — Knowledge Exchange Fellow & Technical Specialist in Nonferrous Alloy Processing, Advanced Forming Research Center (AFRC), University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK — on Manufacturing Processes for Aerospace Applications.
3-days Faculty Development Program
The Departments of Mechanical & Automobile Engineering at Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) successfully conducted a 3-days Faculty Development Program from 2nd to 4th July 2025, in collaboration with Adroitec Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The FDP, held at the CAD Lab (C-216), focused on enhancing faculty expertise in Creo software for sheet metal and plastic component modeling, with Mr. Vignesh M, Senior Application Executive at Adroitec Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd,Banglore serving as the resource person.
