Generative AI & Project Evaluation

The Department of Computer Applications (MCA), MCET, organized a guest lecture on “Generative AI & Project Evaluation” on 9 May 2026 in association with the MCET Alumni Association. The session was delivered by alumni guests Mr. S. Swaminathan, Automation Test Engineer, and Ms. Umarani Balamurugan, Senior Project Executive and Gen AI Specialist from Cognizant Technology Solutions, Chennai. The resource persons shared valuable insights on Generative AI applications and effective project evaluation techniques. The guest lecture was highly informative and beneficial for enhancing the technical and professional knowledge of the students.

Guest Lecture on AI in Fintech

A Guest Lecture on “AI in Fintech” was organized on 07.05.2026 by the Department of Master of Computer Applications. The session was delivered by Mr. Thangaraj Ponnusamy, Founder, Experience Solution Architect & Delivery Lead, Porselvi Software Pvt. Ltd,Coimbatore.

Hands-on Session on Flutter

The Department of Computer Applications (MCA) organized a Hands-on Session on Flutter under OCC on 31/12/2025 and 18/03/2026 for I MCA students, with Mr. R. Shanmugarajeshwaran, Mobile Team Lead, Sparkout Tech Solutions Private Limited, Coimbatore, as the resource person.

Five-day online Faculty Development Program (FDP

The Department of Computer Applications at Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology organized a five-day online Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled "Evolving Large Language Models and Generative AI into Agentic Architectures", which took place from March 16th to 20th, 2026. The program aimed to equip participants with a strong foundation in modern AI systems, covering topics from transformer-based LLMs and the generative layer to advanced techniques like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and autonomous agentic computing . Expert sessions were delivered by Dr. Kishore Anthuvan Sahayaraj K from SRM University, Dr. Sowmya V from Amrita University, Mr. Kishore Rayan from Sparkout Technologies, Ms. Jancy Nithya from Adroit Technologies, and Dr. U. Srinivasulu Reddy from NIT Trichy. Participants gained a strong conceptual foundation in transformer-based architectures and learned to integrate advanced AI concepts, such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agentic Computing, into curriculum development and research. The program successfully enabled faculty members to explore autonomous AI systems and familiarized them with emerging ecosystems shaped by leading organizations like OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Meta AI

Inter College Technical Symposium TECHWALA'26

The Department of Computer Applications organized a Inter College Technical Symposium TECHWALA'26 ( Innovation & Design thinking Summit) on 13.3.2026. To foster innovation and creativity among inter & intra college students through technical and non-technical events, to enhance problem-solving and design thinking skills in real-world scenarios and also to showcase their talents and ideas.

Digital Innovation through AI Driven Blockchain Technology

The Department of Computer Applications organized a Workshop on “Digital Innovation through AI Driven Blockchain Technology” on 28.02.2026 for I MCA students.  The objective of the workshop was to provide insights into emerging digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain innovations across industries.

Seminar on Intelligence Explosion: Where AI is Headed Next

The Department of Computer Applications (MCA), organized a seminar titled “The Intelligence Explosion: Where AI is Headed Next” on 04th February 2026 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the EEE Seminar Hall. The session was delivered by Mr. Aravind Sakthivel, an alumnus of Computer Applications (2005–2008), IT Engineer, and AI Film Maker from Rithan AI DreamWorks, Coimbatore.

The Department of Computer Applications (MCA), organized a one-day Hands-on Session on Flutter on 31st January 2026 at the B-206 Lab from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The session was handled by Mr. R. Shanmugarajeshwaran, Mobile Team Lead, Sparkout Tech Solutions Private Limited, Coimbatore.

Hands-on Session on IoT

A one-day training session on “Hands-on Session on IoT Ignite: Mastering the Fundamentals of Connected Hardware” was organized on 30.01.2026 & 02.02.2026. The session was conducted by Mr. A. Mohammed Ali ,Co-Founder &CEO, IoT Tech-Head Marketing Manager, Innova8 EduTech Solutions, Coimbatore.

Department of MCA has organized parent's teachers meeting for II Year MCA yet be placed students on 27.12.2025 to discuss about Placement and Training activities.

A one-day OCC session on UI/UX was conducted on 18th November 2025 by Mr. Lokesh, a resource person from Spark Out Company.

Hackathon Internship Program

The Department of Computer Applications (MCA) and the MCET Alumni Association, in collaboration with Epic-X, Coimbatore, successfully organized the Hackathon Internship Program on October 24 & 25, 2025, at Dr. MCET, Pollachi.

One-day OCC session on UI/UX

A one-day OCC session on UI/UX was conducted on 15th October 2025 by Mr. Lokesh, a resource person from Spark Out Company.

Two-day workshop

A two-day workshop on “DevOps: From Innovative Culture to Scalable Startup” was organized on 26th and 27th September 2025 for II-MCA (2024–2026) students handled by Mr. A. Manjunath, Senior DevOps engineer & SRE, Upshot Technologies, Bangalore.

One day Workshop

A one-day workshop on " Cybersecurity in IoT Systems: Risks and Defensive Approacheswas conducted on October 14, 2025, for I-MCA (2025-2027 batch) students at the MCA Lab (B205). The workshop has provided an overview of Cybersecurity fundamentals and their relevance in securing IoT ecosystems. The session highlights the topics of IoT architecture, vulnerabilities, and risk factors associated with interconnected smart devices. Hands-on sessions using Kali LinuxHack The Box (HTB)and VirtualBox enhanced practical skills in ethical hacking. The workshop effectively bridged theory and practice, promoting cybersecurity awareness among participants.

 

Internship/Employment in the Evolving IT Industry

The Department of Computer Applications, in association with the MCET Alumni Association, organized an Alumni Interaction and Guest Lecture on the topic “Opportunities: AI and Careers – Internship/Employment in the Evolving IT Industry” on 27th September 2025 at B103.The session was delivered by Ms. Shalini, Alumna (2015–2017 Batch), Project Manager at Skein Technologies, Coimbatore. The primary objective of the session was to create awareness among students about the growing opportunities in Artificial Intelligence and the evolving trends in the IT industry.

Senior–Junior Mentorship Program

A one-day "Senior–Junior Mentorship Program" was organized on 11.09.2025, fostering academic bonding, peer learning, and guidance between senior and junior students.

Full Stack Development

A one-day training session on “Full Stack Development (MERN)” was organized on 18.09.2025. The session was conducted by Mr. K. Rajasekar, Full Stack Technical Lead, Nschool Academy, Coimbatore.

Parent-Teacher Interaction

As part of the inauguration of MCET, the department of Computer Applications organised a Parent-Teacher Interaction. The session aimed to provide parents with insights into the academic journey and placement opportunities their wards will receive over the next two years at college.

Alumni Interaction Session

An online session on “Internship Opportunities at Workfolio” will be conducted on August 30, 2025, at 10:45 AM. The speaker for this session is Mr. Ragupathi Selvaraj, Co-founder & Product Head at Workfolio, and an alumnus of the 2012–2015 batch. The session will be held in online mode through a video call link provided, offering students valuable insights into internship opportunities and career prospects at Workfolio.
