An OCC session on 23ECC018 – IoT with Robotics and Automation was successfully conducted on 26/03/2026 and 27/03/2026 at C313, handled by Harini M, Robotics Trainer & Research Specialist, Robomiracle Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore. The session provided valuable insights into IoT concepts using ESP32, focusing on sensor–actuator interaction and communication protocols in automated systems, along with real-world applications. Students actively participated and gained hands-on experience with modern IoT tools, enhancing their understanding of industry practices and emerging trends. Overall, the session effectively bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation.

Workshop on “Synchro Tech: Real-Time Sensing and Control Systems
The IEEE Student Branch in association with ECE Spectrum of Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, organized a technical workshop titled “Synchro Tech: Real-Time Sensing and Control Systems” on 04 March 2026 at Room C313. The session was delivered by Sabarinathan Dhandapani, who shared practical insights on real-time sensing, control systems, and their applications in robotics, automation, and embedded systems. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sudhakar and coordinated with the support of C. Moorthy. A total of 52 students from ECE, EC (ACT), and EEE departments participated and benefited from the interactive session, gaining knowledge about sensor integration, real-time system design, and modern control technologies.

Exploring Career Opportunities in VLSI Technology
An alumni interaction session on “Exploring Career Opportunities in VLSI Technology” was conducted on 12.03.2026 for III-year ECE and ACT students at the Mechanical Seminar Hall, with 170 participants. The session was delivered by Mr. Venkat Ruban P, Lead Design Verification Engineer at Qualcomm, Bangalore (Batch 2013–2017).

Building a Career in Software and AI
An Alumni Interaction on “Building a Career in Software and AI” was conducted at the CS Hall for II and III year ECE and ACT students. The session began with a welcome address by Selvan Karthick Surjan (II ECE B) and an introduction of the alumni by Ms. S. Thilagavathi, AP (SS)/ECE. Alumni Ms. Swasthika M. L, a Software Engineer, shared her career journey and explained opportunities in Software Development, DevOps, Cloud, and AI/ML. She highlighted key programming languages, modern technology stacks, and the importance of strong fundamentals, continuous learning, and focusing on one career path initially. The session provided valuable insights for students aspiring to build careers in Software and AI.
19.02.2026 & 20.02.2026 - A Two-day ISTE & IEEE sponsored workshop
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a two-day (19.02.2026 & 20.02.2026) ISTE & IEEE-sponsored workshop on “Embedded Systems and IoT with Hardware Security”, featuring expert sessions by Dr. Ganesh Prabhu (Caliber Interconnects, Coimbatore), Dr. G. Lakshmi Narayanan (NIT Tiruchirapalli), and Mr. K. Sathiyan (Bosch Global Software Technologies, Tiruchirapalli). The program covered embedded system fundamentals, System-on-Chip concepts, and practical training on PIC microcontrollers with MPLAB IDE, giving participants valuable exposure to embedded C and assembly programming. A total of 52 participants attended, with the workshop coordinated by Dr. R. Sherine Jenny, Ms. N. Sugirtham, Ms. V. Bhuvaneswari, and Mr. K. R. Gokul Anand.
16th International Project Competition – VISAI 2026
This is to recognize Kamalisri D, Sujai G, and Jaisurya S from Third Year ECE for their active participation and project presentation at the 16th International Project Competition – VISAI 2026, organized by Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology under the banner of VISAI 2026. The team presented the project titled “Aerogun: An Eco-smart Chimney with Water Heat Recovery and IoT-Based Air Quality Monitoring” under the Hackathon category. The project emphasizes sustainable environmental innovation by integrating waste heat recovery mechanisms with IoT-based real-time air quality monitoring to enhance energy efficiency and indoor environmental safety. The certificate acknowledges their successful presentation and active participation in this international-level competition aligned with Sustainable Development Goals and industry-driven problem statements.

22nd Board of Studies Meeting of the ECE Department on 12.12.2025

6-Day FDP on “Analog IC Design and Artificial Intelligence for Next-Generation Chip Design” 3.11.2025 to 8.11.2025
A 6-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Analog IC Design and Artificial Intelligence for Next-Generation Chip Design” was held from November 3 to 8,2025, bringing together faculty and industry experts from across India. Renowned speakers from top academic institutions and semiconductor industries delivered lectures and practical sessions on advanced analog circuit design, AI-augmented EDA flows, and next-generation chip development. Faculty participants from diverse engineering colleges engaged in interactive workshops, gaining exposure to cutting-edge technologies and real-world applications. The FDP fostered interdisciplinary learning, strengthened industry-academia collaboration, and equipped attendees with skills to drive innovation in chip design and AI integration, contributing significantly to the advancement of semiconductor education and research in India.

08.11.2025 - Parents' Meeting
A parents' meeting for III - A,B and ACT for the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was held on November 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Electrical Seminar Hall to discuss students' academic progress and overall development. The meeting, attended by a significant number of parents, included a welcome address and departmental presentation by the Head of the Department, who covered the department's vision, faculty information, teaching-learning process, and co-curricular activities. Mentors and class teachers provided individual feedback to parents regarding their ward's academic performance, attendance, and internal assessment marks, with a particular focus on identifying and supporting low performers. Discussions also highlighted the importance of placement training, higher education opportunities, and parental involvement in creating a supportive learning environment at home. Parents shared their observations and suggestions, which were noted by the faculty, and the meeting successfully fostered collaboration between parents and teachers for the holistic development of the students.

4 Days - One credit course on “Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision”
A one-credit course on “Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision” was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering for ECE and ACT students on 31.10.2025, 01.11.2025, 07.11.2025, and 08.11.2025. The sessions were conducted by Ms. Harini from Robomiracle, engaging a total of 38 participants. The course provided hands-on experience in Python programming, object recognition, YOLO, image segmentation, and various deep learning methods. Students explored real-time applications of AI and computer vision through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations. The program enhanced students’ technical skills and understanding of modern AI frameworks. It also encouraged innovation and research-oriented learning among participants. The course was organized and coordinated by Dr. C. Moorthy, AP (SG)/ECE, who ensured effective academic delivery and smooth execution of the event.
DESIGN OF SINGLE PAGE APPLICATION - One Credit Course by Mr.Sam Rubin on 31 Oct' 2025 to 02 Oct' 2025
II ECE A& B AND III ACT students (25 students) had OCC from 31.10.2025 to 02.11.2025 on design of single page application. Mr.Sam Rubin , Senior Software Engineer, JP Morgan Chase , handled the session. Students gained knowledge on, wed page design using HTML, CSS and JAVA SCRIPT.
RF Circuits & Microwave Filters - One Credit Course by Mr. Durai Sundar from TCS on 22–23 Oct' 2025
The OCC for the RF Circuits and Microwave Filters was held on 22–23 October 2025 with external expert Mr. Durai Sundar from TCS, Bengaluru. He conducted hands-on technical sessions for students on RF circuit design, S-parameters, and microstrip filter implementation using Keysight ADS. His classes strengthened student understanding of amplifier, filter, and matching network design and confirmed that the course outcomes are well aligned with industry needs. The expert commended the practical orientation of the lab and suggested minor improvements for future enhancement.
10.10.2025 - One Credit Course on Semi-Custom IC Design
A One Credit Course on Semi-Custom IC Design using the CADENCE EDA Tool was conducted for II Year ECE and ACT students on 10–11 October 2025. The session was handled by Mr. Jay Kumar S. A., Clarozon Technologies, Coimbatore. As part of this hands-on training, students learned how digital hardware is described using Verilog, one of the most widely used Hardware Description Languages in the semiconductor industry. The course offered practical exposure to design, simulation, and verification using CADENCE tools, helping students gain real-time skills relevant to the VLSI domain.
Modern React 2 - One Credit Course by Mr. Kamil Hasan from VVDN on 31 Oct' & 7-8th Nov' 2025
The OCC for the Modern React 2 was conducted on 31 October 2025 and 7th and 8th November 2025 with external expert Mr. Kamil Hasan from VVDN, Pollachi. He conducted hands-on sessions for students on Linux Introduction, various commands used in Linux . His classes strengthened student understanding about Linux and their outcomes are well aligned with industry needs.
Round table Discussion on Exploring NOKIA with CTO
A Round Table Discussion on “Exploring NOKIA” was held on 31.10.2025 in the EEE Conference Hall from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The session was organized by Dr. V. K. Sudha and Dr. C. Moorthy of the ECE Department. The discussion was led by Mr. Arun Gopinath, CTO, who shared valuable insights on AI with Networks, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Automation, Networks as Sensors, and Radio Access Networks. Students from ECE, EEE, and VLSI departments actively participated and interacted enthusiastically. The session was highly informative and provided a practical understanding of emerging network technologies.
EMBEDDED SYSTEMS AND IOT (10-11 Oct'25 & 24 -25 Oct'25)
A One Credit Course on Embedded Systems and IOT was conducted for II Year ECE and ACT students on 10–11 Oct'25 & 24-25 Oct'25. The session was handled by Mr. Sathish Pandi, Robomiracle Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore. As part of this hands-on training, students learned about embedded systems and IoT fundamentals and applications with the help of Arduino board and software. The course offered practical exposure to simulation and verification using hardware, helping students gain real-time skills relevant to the Embedded and IoT domain.

Empowering the Next Generation of Wireless Innovators
Training workshop on “Next Gen Wireless Communication – From Theory to Simulation” on 9ᵗʰ & 10ᵗʰ October 2025. With insightful sessions led by experts from IIT Palakkad and VIT (Vellore & Chennai), participants explored emerging technologies such as Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Massive MIMO, and RF System Design, along with hands-on training using CST Studio Suite. The program bridged theory and practice, enabling faculty, research scholars, and students to gain valuable exposure to the evolving 5G and upcoming 6G landscape.

The event Pitch Fest was successfully conducted on 29/08/2025(FN), bringing together young innovators to showcase their creative ideas. The event not only highlighted the creativity and problem-solving abilities of the participants but also gave them valuable feedback. The Pitch Fest concluded with the recognition of the best ideas, inspiring all participants to take their entrepreneurial journey forward. ElectroRush
The ECE department association hosted ElectroRush, a technical coding event designed exclusively for Second year ECE, EC(ACT), EEE, and VLSI students. ElectroRush focused on circuit debugging, aiming to sharpen students’ analytical skills, logical reasoning, and practical understanding of electronic circuits.The challenges were carefully designed to test students’ core knowledge in circuit theory, logic design, and practical troubleshooting skills.

The ECE Department organized a two-day workshop on 27th and 28th March 2025 titled “Defending the Network: Innovative Design and Security Solutions.” The workshop helped students learn about network security, cyber threats, and protection methods through interactive sessions and hands-on activities. Many students and faculty members participated and gained useful knowledge in building secure networks.
