தமிழ்த்துறை:

தமிழ் மொழியில்,சங்க காலம் முதல் தமிழர் இடையே அறிவியல் செயற்பாடுகள் தொன்று தொட்டு பல காலகட்டங்களில் சிறப்புற்று இருந்துள்ளன என்பதை பல்வேறு இலக்கியங்களில் சான்றுகளாக அறிய முடிகிறது. மொழிக்கும் மனித சிந்தனைக்கும் உள்ள வலுவான தொடர்பு மேலும் பல கோணங்களில் ஆராயப்பட்டு  நிரூபிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. தமிழை தாய்  மொழியாகக் கொண்டவர்கள், அறிவியல்-தொழில் நுட்பங்களைத் தமிழில் படிக்கையில் ஒரு வேறுபட்ட புரிதல் ஏற்படுகின்றது, வேறுபட்ட சிந்தனைக்கு வழி செய்கின்றது, புதிய பரிமாணங்களில் , மாறுபட்ட சூழலில் (socio-cultural context) விஷயங்களை ஆராய வழி செய்கின்ற வகையில்  தமிழர் மரபும், தமிழரும்  தொழில்நுட்பம் பாடங்கள் அமைந்துள்ளது.

Department of English, steered by Ms.V.Arunadevi with qualified faculty members, is committed to whet the overall communicative quotient of MCETians and transform them to be Employable engineers. One of the prime objectives of the department is to provide practical training in the enhancement of soft skills in general and communicative English in particular. All the four skill-sets of English, LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading& Writing) are scientifically experimented in the laboratory setup through a dynamic, student-centric, interactive learning tools (Tablet- Enabled Smart Learning) and teaching learning methodologies, such as debates, brain storming sessions, Group Discussions, Mock interviews and the likes.

The syllabi taught at MCET has been designed in collaboration with TheBritish Council and is the by-product of Industry Academic Partnership is aimed at meeting the demands of industry for ‘skilful’ and ‘Industry-Ready’ graduates.

Besides preparing the students for Business English Certificate (BEC) course, the students are encouraged and trained on International English Language Certificate courses such as IELTS, TOEFL.Hindi is being offered to all the sophomores and juniors mean while other international languages such as German and Japanese are being taught on demand as well. The department runs Crusade, a monthly e-magazine that identifies and showcases the writing skills of young talents, budding poets, journalists, blog writers and Nature Enthusiasts in all spectrums of life while Rostrum Club provides an active platform and ample exposure to the non- English medium students to conquer Anglophobia – fear of speaking in English.

The department boasts of an exclusive, sophisticated language laboratory housing 104 computers besides a state-of-the-art smart class room and a spacious GD hall.

Every branch of Engineering is based on the application of mathematics to the physical world to describe the transfer of heat, energy, mass and momentum. Mathematics details the impact of stress, strain, erosive chemicalsand heat on systems. Mathematics is used in risk management, cost estimation, life span calculations, scale up and downsizing. The team of faculty members is co-ordinated by Dr.L.Senthil Kumar, Assistant Professor (SG). The department continues its commitments of providing a firm understanding of the underlying mathematical principles in the field of engineering, so as to develop a “Comfort zone” not only for Mathematics but also for its applications involved.

The department staff members qualified in various fields is striving hard to achieve the mission of the college. The department strives hard to inculcate the natural laws and principles. Opportunities are provided to young entrants of B.E./B.Tech., Programmes to perform experiments independently and confidently to promote self-learning. In this direction a lab manual is published through Pearson & co. Apart from the experiments included in the curriculum of the university, ours being an autonomous institution, the lab is being equipped to perform the theory related experiments to strengthen their knowledge such as:
